UW Athletics Community Relations & Communications Internships

Description:

Community Relations Internship -
  • Coordinate and execute charitable projects and goodwill initiatives, including wish fulfillment experiences and student-athlete led initiatives
    • Serve as the liaison between the wish recipients, community partners and Wisconsin Athletics – keep the family/organization updated on the status of the wish/community project, answer questions, and develop a positive rapport with the child, family, and community partner
    • Coordinate and execute wish granting experiences
    • Based on community needs that align with the mission and goals of Badgers Give Back, develop, coordinate and execute student-athlete and community partner led initiatives
  • Tell the story of Badgers Give Back
    • Capture experiences and tell the story through photography, video, social media and written content
      • Use the platform of Wisconsin Athletics and coordinate with internal units to help tell the story and reinforce the Give Back brand of Wisconsin Athletics
  • Create digital media and marketing materials to be published on social media
    • Develop social media strategy and campaigns across a variety of platforms
    • Develop monthly reports on social media results and outline any necessary changes to the social media strategy as part of the digital marketing plan
    • Manage the Badgers Give Back social media accounts and develop content to engage users
    • Keep on top of trends and developments that can help market our brand
    • Create and manage social media calendar
    • Source and curate content that aligns with the brand voice
    • Monitor news to provide timely and relevant posts
  • Responsible for recording and tracking student-athlete volunteer hours and preparing community service reports

Communications Internship -
  • Help with Communications for Wisconsin’s 23 sports including:
    • Helping run social media accounts.
    • Writing news releases, event recaps and feature stories.
  • Working sporting events.
  • Keeping game statistics and records.
  • Photography and videography.
  • Interacting with student-athletes, coaches, athletic department staff and media.
  • Maintaining UWBadgers.com and providing content for Varsity Magazine.
  • Travel a possibility.

Description:

The MSE Inside Sales department has been created to accelerate the development of emerging sales talent. This entry level position engages participants in programming designed to build the critical skills that are required to succeed in professional sports sales. Current partners include the Chicago Cubs, Wrigley Rooftops, Hickory Street Capital, and other opportunities that may present themselves.  This position engages participants in programming and training designed to build the critical skills that are required to succeed in the next level of professional sports sales to include but not limited to Group Sales, Business Development, Premier Sales and Corporate Partnerships. 

Responsibilities:
  • Contact and dialogue with sales leads, requiring 70 to 90 outbound touchpoints per day
  • Prospect, research and engage new business through cold calls, e-mails and networking
  • Interact with prospective clients as required
  • Engage in effective needs analysis to maximize packaging opportunities across entities
  • Identify and capitalize on additional opportunities to extend beyond core responsibilities
  • Meet or exceed all operational and revenue targets
