Now Accepting Applications

Dates: Aug. 2017-Dec. 2017

Location: Madison, WI

Commitment: Customized for Schedule and Credit Requirements

Salary: Unpaid

·       Course Credit Available

Description

Fan Media is a social news sports network of mobile phone video correspondents for the top 250 NCAA, NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB and MLS teams (Patent Pending). Fan Media will develop and collaborate with correspondents as mobile video journalists for social news coverage throughout the season. This is an opportunity to be on-camera, cover high-profile sports news, build your mobile demo reel and have fun.

Trained journalists, former college players, and fans make 45-second videos/stories on their phones for our network, covering their teams in their area from their point of view as social news coverage and compete each season to earn official status, money and media credentials.

For college students who want to cover their school’s football team, the program runs from August through December for school credit (non-paid). Internships can be customized for each student to fit your schedule and meet your school’s requirements.

Interns (correspondents) will make 45-second videos/stories covering their school’s football team in their area on a weekly basis for social news coverage, including news reporting, commentary, criticism, analysis, fan interviews, moments, trending stories and public opinion. Fan Media Network will provide a correspondent kit with best practices on production quality and editorial direction.

Students will learn mobile video journalism in the field and strive to get into the News Feeds and Trending Stories of Facebook and Twitter as social news coverage. Videos can be shared from our iPhone app and website into the Newsfeeds of Facebook and Twitter and the best videos get featured on Fan Media’s social brand pages.

How to Apply

Installing our iPhone app or making a profile on the Fan Media Website (Android users).

Make one video 45-second or less video/story about their school’s football team. It can be a season preview video or any of the ideas listed above. Fan Media will contact you in the app or website from our Newsroom to set you up from there.

Important Internship Details:
Deadline to Apply: Aug. 4, 2017
Dates: Fall Semester
Location: Madison, WI
Commitment: Office hours 3 times per week for 3-4 hours
Salary: Unpaid

Description
RotoWire is currently seeking interested applicants for fall semester internships at our office, which is located directly behind the Kohl Center.

For those unfamiliar with RotoWire, we're a fantasy sports company that provides content to partners such as ESPN, Yahoo, DraftKings, FanDuel, SiriusXM, BleacherReport, NBA.com, and a number of other respected companies in the sports industry. We also have RotoWire.com, a subscription-based website that caters to both year-long and daily fantasy. In addition to the four major sports (NFL, MLB, NBA, and NHL), RotoWire also covers CFB, CBB, Golf, Soccer, MMA, Cricket, NASCAR, CFL, WNBA, and eSports (LoL, Dota 2, Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm, Call of Duty, CS:GO, and Halo).

Interns are expected to come into the office three times per week for 3-4 hours depending on their availability for the semester. Most internships last one semester, but some of our interns have returned for multiple semesters, and our best interns can step into part-time paid roles after their internship is complete. In fact, most of our full-time staffers are UW graduates who came through our intern program.

Our internships are unpaid, but the path to a part-time job is available to ambitious workers. The quicker an intern becomes capable of working independent of a direct editor, the quicker they are asked to take on a paid role.

The full list of all available intern positions are given below:
