Commitment: Marketing Intern (15+ Hrs/Wk), Sports Intern (10+ Hrs/Wk)

Description:

Marketing Intern -

This position is responsible for assisting with marketing to staff, athletes, families, volunteers, donors and communities across Wisconsin. Projects may include:
  • Content development: various e-newsletters, targeted e-marketing, website content, video development, help to maintain editorial calendar
  • Event marketing: planning, logistics, information sheets, event banners, day-of support
  • Media relations: news releases, media advisories, media pitches
  • Advertising & Promotions: write, edit and design deliverables; partner with promotional product vendors
  • Social Media: creating content for social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)
  • Measure: analyze data to report measures of success; experience with Google Analytics a plus
  • Perform administrative duties as needed

Sports Intern -

This position is responsible for assisting Sports staff in planning and implementing state and local programming. Projects may include:
  • Assist with planning and management of SOWI state and local competitions
  • Facilitate the development and coordination of Games Management Teams
  • Plan and implement trainings for coaches and/or athletes
  • Contribute to planning and organization of Team Wisconsin for USA Games camps and logistics
  • Assist with volunteer management
  • Perform administrative duties as needed

If your school allows for an internship credit, Special Olympics Wisconsin will work with you to provide support for that credit.

Description:

This Digital Content & Social Media internship is designed to be a true learning experience by providing the intern firsthand sports industry experience dealing with industry personnel and professional teams and brands. The internship is unpaid, but offers the ability to work remotely, flexible hours, and a unique learning experience in the sports industry. This will be a very hands-on position with important company responsibilities delegated to the intern. Expected time commitment is should be 5-10 hours per week. *Students are eligible to receive school credit if they wish* This position will be responsible for assisting with the management of Sports Business Solutions’ social media accounts, coordinating content delivery and potentially writing content to increase client engagement. The intern will be a true member of the SBS family with the potential ability to join as a full-time member of the crew down the road. 

Responsibilities Include - 
  • Execute social media strategy though management of official social media accounts
  • Grow the following, engagement, and reach of all social media accounts
  • Update weekly tracker that includes follower and post numbers
  • Monitor followers and identify ways to increase participation and feedback
  • Analyze data and analytics in an effort to build more engaging content
  • Coordinate written, video, and photo content and distribution across all platforms
  • Monitor digital content performance
  • Occasional website content creation
  • Assist in the conception and execution of digital marketing campaigns to maximize outreach
  • Assist with digital analytics and reporting projects
  • Infographic development
  • Occasional photography and graphic design

Description:

The Morning Sports Report is a quarterly breakfast series, presented by Madison Area Sports Commission and ESPN Madison. It brings together those interested or working in sports. The event begins with networking, followed by a short program covering a featured topic. 

This week's feature topic - Running for Home: A Journey Into Hosting the NCAA Cross Country Championship

The Panelists include:
  • Mick Byrne, Director of Cross Country and Track & Field, University of Wisconsin-Madison
  • Joni Comstock, Senior Vice President of Championships, NCAA
  • Amy Davis, Student-Athlete, University of Wisconsin-Madison 2015-Present
  • Tim Hacker, Student-Athlete, University of Wisconsin-Madison 1981-1985; 1985 NCAA Individual Cross Country Champion, Three-Time All-American
